LAKL started in a small room in Ohio with 12 students. The school has grown each year since its inception in 2018 and has expanded to an international online platform. Today, our classroom spans the U.S., Canada, Western Australia, Europe and South Africa. At last count, 28 states were represented. We are a global family with local impact.

MEET THE DIRECTORS
Lisa & Rick Truman
Rick and Lisa are high school sweethearts who have been married for nearly 40 years. They have two daughters, two sons-in-law, and two beagles who are now retired from rabbit hunting.
Rick co-owns McFadden insurance in Carrollton, Ohio, a third-generation family business. Lisa works as a first-grade intervention specialist at Carrollton Elementary and have taught for more than 25 years.
They were drawn to Legacy because Chris Blackeby, whom they listened to online, was going to be speaking at the church. Then they met Tommy Miller. "We came back, fell in love with the people here, and never looked back," Lisa said. "Oh, how we have soaked up the life and kingdom culture this house carries!"

MEET THE FOUNDERS
Tommy
& Shanda Miller
Tommy Miller is the co-founder of Legacy Church in New Philadelphia, Ohio, where he is called "pastor" but is undoubtedly the apostolic voice for the area and for nations. He leads a thriving local church and an international ministry with his wife, Pastor Shanda Miller.
Tommy, our primary lecturer, is a gifted orator and teacher, a meticulous researcher and biblical scholar. He is the author of four bestsellers — "Deathless," "Transfigured," "Revelator" and "Unveiled" — with additional manuscripts in the works for 2026. This man of high capacity and deep compassion is an exquisite example of fathering leadership, for both teams and individuals. Tommy’s mission is to empower and equip a community of New Creation believers. With his insatiable hunger for Truth and a life committed to the Word, Tommy's revelations include practical ways to live fully transfigured. One of the most honorable aspects of Tommy’s life is the love he so freely displays for his wife, Shanda.
Shanda, whom Tommy calls his compass, his true north, is also an author. Her inspiring memoir titled “God, I Forgive You” takes you on a literary journey through her tumultuous rise to adulthood and sonship . It “will hurt you, then haunt you, then heal you.” This testimony has naturally given Shanda the foundation to become a temperament counselor, which helps people understand their God-given gifts and tendencies. Shanda is at the top of her class in a doctorate program for temperament counseling. Shanda and Tommy are endlessly proud of their two sons, daughters-in-law, and four grandchildren.
Tommy and Shanda have been in ministry together for 14 years, initiated by a divine chain of events. One son introduced them to the gospel when their marriage was on the brink of disaster; the other demanded that Tommy teach them the Bible. God plucked them out of the circumstances they were in and put them in a place of influence over 30 kids. That act sparked an unquenchable fire in the couple and in those teens. It launched Pastors Tommy and Shanda into a life of ministry. Nearly 13 years ago, they started Legacy Church. They have dedicated their lives to the local body, enabling manifest sons to emerge by walking in their God-given identity, in the fullness of Jesus Christ.
Their integrity and honor have created a culture that churches nationwide and internationally want to emulate and implement. They launched this school in 2018, and it has expanded from a local classroom to an international online platform. In 2025, enrollment was over 130 students, who come from 28 states and four countries. Through LAKL, Legacy Church, online courses, counseling and outreach, Tommy and Shanda shepherd the local community and an ever-increasing global audience with a five-fold ministry team.
This couple desires that every person know that abundance is possible in every aspect of life -- in health, wealth, relationships, contentment, marriage, parenting. The good news is that Jesus’ sacrifice was sufficient. He died once and for all. That means we not only govern our souls, but our experience here on Earth. Our commission is to love others as Jesus did, to bring heaven here, heaven now.
